Electric Infrared Heaters

What is the difference between regular heaters and the electric infrared heaters? A standard heater uses convection to heat the air in a room, and circulates it until the objects in the room are also warmed. Electric infrared heaters work far differently. They use direct infrared radiation to heat up the objects in the room, rather than the air.

How does that work? The infrared radiation penetrates your skin and then radiates out to the room by reflecting off of your skin. The infrared light rays are invisible. The heat we get from the sun is infrared radiant heat. These far rays actually improve your blood circulation and can speed up healing processes.

Because this infrared radiation heats up the objects it hits, it ends up costing far less to heat . If you are in the range of the heater, you will feel comfortable very quickly, and then the things near you will begin to warm as well. It transfers from your warmer body to the cooler objects around you. Not depending on air circulation, the infrared radiation makes use of electromagnetic waves to transmit the warmth.

These rays are so similar to the sun's rays, that it does not disturb the environment. It uses less energy than a space heater, and, in fact, emits more heat than you'd get from most of your traditional heating methods. The even distribution of heat keeps the air in the room from feeling so dry and close.

Where a conventional space heater cannot be expected to heat more than the average sized bedroom, an electric infrared heater can heat as much as 150 square feet or more. This is assuming that your home has a 1500 watt limit. And in addition to that, it does it much faster. Flip on an electric radiant heater when you get up in the morning, and your feet will never hit an ice cold floor!

So where would you want to use them? They are great for the bathroom. It can be a chilling experience getting out of a warm tub or shower on a cold winter's morning. It is much nicer to make the morning coffee in a warm kitchen than when your feet are freezing to the tile floor.

There are any number of ways to enjoy the benefits of electric infrared heaters. They provide fast and inexpensive heat in any indoor or outdoor area that is exposed to chill. You will find them in airports, bus stations, factories, and garages. They are used at swimming pools, ski resorts, outdoor dining facilities, and at ice-skating rinks.

Unlike conventional heaters, which are always installed or placed near the floor to allow the rising heat to warm the air above it, electric infrared heaters can be installed at ceiling height, or on the floor, and directed toward the objects that require warming, such as your shower stall, an outside table or your feet. This also makes them the perfect solution for basement rooms, attics, three season sun porches, and work rooms in garages.
