Electric Garage Heaters Make Winter Work Comfortable
Having a reliable heater is especially important when the need to work comfortably in a garage in the winter months and where room may be limited. Most electric garage heaters are small, quiet, and produce great heat for their size. They can even be mounted to hang from the ceiling, so even in rooms where space may be limited; these heaters meet the need perfectly.
Customers have reported being very happy with the performance of their heater even when living in colder climate areas where the level of cold commonly reaches 33 below (wind chill) and -20 ambient temperatures.
When using electric garage heaters, there are some safety benefits over using the propane space heaters or also known as the “self-contained-blowtorch”. While common sense should be used with any heater, sometimes just knowing that there aren’t flames shooting out of a metal container in your workroom is just a bit more reassuring. There have been reports of incidents where propane units have caught items on fire where they were located to close to the front opening. Many ‘funny’ stories have been told about ‘that guy’ who accidently burned the leg of his pants or coveralls by standing too close… or even better melted their boot… don’t be ‘that guy’; leave the propane for the grill.
On a more serious note, propane exhausts lots of carbon monoxide, so you have to always keep a door or window partially open to the outside for ventilation. The problem with that is… It’s Cold Outside! This obviously seriously lowers the heater efficiency. Electric garage heaters produce no harmful gases and therefore allowing you to keep the cold air out and the warm air in.
Another great safety benefit of using electric garage heaters is the thermostat. Electric garage heaters are thermostatically controlled. The heater’s fan will cycle on and off until the ambient temperature is above 55 or so, then will run continuously until reaching the desired temperature. The thermal cutout is another safety measure that automatically shuts off the unit in the event it should begin to overheat.
A word on electricity bills: You can expect a slight hike in the electric bill when using electric garage heaters, but it’s to be expected… it is after all electric. However, as most satisfied customers reported; the bill amount increase was within their expectancy and was well worth the cost given the great performance, especially in harsh cold weather conditions.
